Here’s how you can know your child is protected in dangerous situations. You teach them to protect themselves. Parents have been teaching children how to protect themselves for years, but many times parents unwittingly enforce the wrong type of behaviors.

I know, this sounds too good to be true. I was skeptical myself at first because I didn’t think it possible to actually teach kids how to protect themselves effectively from predators. I mistakenly thought all a parent could do was protect their child by not letting them out of their sight.

But, after reading the books by Officer Newsom I was in shock, a good shock that is! I ordered and read the “Student Safety Tips - 40 that every 1^st & 2^nd grader must know” to my five year old and was surprised at how she responded and completely understood what to do. I was also relieved to know my child was prepared to defend and protect herself when I was not there to protect her.

There are books geared for elementary students, middle school students, high school students, and even college students. The books are easy to read, easy to understand, and the safety tips are easy to incorporate into one’s daily routine. In fact, they are so easy that even my five year old can do them.
